One World, Many Stories
The Jungle
Rumbai was without a doubt a cool place to grow up. We played a lot of golf, tennis, squash, softball and did make some very dear friends. Some of my greatest friendships were built there. At the time we didn't realize how lucky we were. I actually did most of my growing up there. I fell in love for the first time there, I was ignored there, I was bullied there, learn karate there, I learn that there is nothing weirder than people there, I had my first trip to the principles office there ( a common occurrence for me I'm afraid) I learn t the lessons that everyone learn. but few learn them in such a cool place.
The camp changed pretty much during our 13 years new housing areas were built and a lot of jungle was cut down. Some of the classic trails disappeared. The school changed a lot. We originally had that thin stuff on the roof so when it rained you couldn't hear anything-I liked that!

Question asked of Rumbai Resident
Did the kids swim in the reservoir when you were here? Oh Yes we loved the "water hole!!". "We would stand under the overflow and hid from our parents!!". "A great secret place!! WE had a clay slide that we loved!". Wore out the bottoms of our bathing suits. "We all had orange bottoms." You too?? Did you see a lot of snakes? No we didn't see too many snakes. What kinds of monkeys lived in Rumbai then? We had lots of gibbon as we recall, What a noise they made at sun rise. Easily the best education the students ever got was during their years at CAS. It was weird getting back to my country and really kind of being one of a big crowd.
